Mbare biogas plant nears completion

The government says local authorities have the capacity to generate at least 60 mega watts of electricity by setting up biogas projects which will help in waste management. The call for councils to embark on biogas projects comes at a time when Harare City Council’s Mbare biogas project is almost complete, amid proposals for the turning of the Pomona dump site into another biogas project. Cancer awareness campaign in Concession

St Alberts Mission Hospital in Centenary held an awareness campaign on the prevention and early detection of cancer in memory of the late Dr Elizabeth Tarira who succumbed to breast cancer in 2012. The burden of cancer in Zimbabwe is now a grim reality, amid revelations that the non-communicable disease has overtaken HIV and AIDS as the top killer. The late Dr Elizabeth Tarira, who was the hospital’s first resident doctor, arrived in 1983, becoming the hospital’s director in 1999.
