Robson Chigara is this year’s winner of the Dangamvura 10km road race male category, whilst Constance Nyasango successfully defended her title in the women category.

The second edition of 10km and 5km fun run, which was held this Sunday morning, drew seasoned and amateur athletes in different categories.

In the 10km race male category, Chigare shrugged off stiff competition and won the race, followed by Millen Matende on second position with Jacob Mugomeri settling for the third position.

In the female category, Nyasango won the race and was followed by Chiedza Chikore on second position.

Both Chigare and Nyasango said the race was tough and attributed their success to numerous training programmes.

The Chairperson of the Manicaland Athletics Board, Mr Joshua Mutume commended the huge turn out and said this year’s edition was more organised.

In the masters male category, Kingstone Murinye came first, followed by Nicholas Nyengerai.

In the grand masters male category, Moses Chikuda clinched the first position with Reuben Sharara coming second.

The grand masters 10km female category was won by Winnet Pavo.

In the 10km high school female category, Raviro Magomo came first followed by Liosa Mandebvu.

The Dangamvura 10km and 5km fun run is sponsored by Old Mutual with the objective of creating wellness, environmental health and has come in a big way in developing sport in Manicaland Province.
