The application of make-up is an art which should be mastered before one attempts to apply it.

It is against this background that Hollywood based Zimbabwean artist Jackie Mgido decided to hold the first ever make up competition in Zimbabwe.

The race started with 20 contestants all battling for the coveted 16 thousand worth of make-up goods, mentorship by award winning business woman Zodwa Mkandla as well as grooming by Hollywood make-up artist Mgido.

The final contestants were competing in two categories, the wedding look and the tv-film and fashion look.

It was a tough choice for the judges to come up with the winner for the best make-up artist as they all managed to create their individual looks with some opting for the avatar look while others went for the Egyptian goddess look.

In the end it was Audrey Paradza’s artistry which captured the judges attention and she walked away with the prize.

Speaking to ZBC News organiser of the event Jackie Mgido praised the make-up artists for their level of creativity.

It was indeed a recreation of the Hollywood industry and it brought out the talent that Zimbabwe has in the arts industry.
