The Zanu PF Manicaland province has requested for the conferment of provincial liberation hero status on the late provincial secretary for production and labour Cde Nathaniel Mhiripiri who was found dead near his farm last week.
In an interview after emerging from the provincial executive council meeting, Zanu PF Manicaland provincial chairman Dr Samuel Undenge said the provincial executive has unanimously endorsed Makoni district’s recommendation for the conferment of provincial liberation hero status on the late Cde Mhiripiri.
He said the province has since forwarded the recommendation to the party headquarters for final decision.
Dr Undenge said the province has been dealt a major blow following the loss of two hard working and committed party cadres Cde Gilbert Marange and Cde Mhiripiri in a short space of time.
The Rusape politician and farmer Cde Mhiripiri was found dead at his Abeid Farm three days after he had gone missing.
His decomposing body was found near a stream, a few metres from the main road which leads to his farm house.
Police are investigating the matter. Burial arrangements are yet to be finalised.
