Tobacco farmers have raised concern over the newly introduced electronic marketing system being used to sell tobacco.

Farmers who delivered their crops to Premiere Tobacco Floors said they failed to sell their crops on Thursday as the system was down.

ZBC News crew witnessed Friday’s auction being done manually.

At Tobacco Sales Floor, farmers raised concern over failing to access cash and staged a demonstration which caused Friday’s auction to delay by an hour.

The tobacco marketing season kicked off on Wednesday at auction floors and on Thursday at contract sales floors.
