The Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry has dismissed reports that the Sanganai/Hlanganani tourism fair has been cancelled, insisting that the fair will be held as planned as resources to make it possible will be made available in due course.

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Chief Executive, Mr Karikoga Kaseke issued a statement last week to the effect that this year’s edition of Sanganai/Hlanganani Travel Expo has been cancelled citing lack of adequate funding from fiscus.

However, the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Cde Anastancia Ndlovu said there is no way the event can be shelved.

“The government is aware that the Sanganai/Hlanganani travel expo has grown to become the second most popular tourism fair on the continent after Indaba Travel Expo in South Africa and thus there is no way that it can be shelved,” she said.

The expo has become an annual premier tourism fair.
