Vice President Kembo Mohadi has officially opened a $17 million marble cutting and polishing factory established by Yadah Connect, the first of its kind in Zimbabwe.

A call has been made for industry to reawaken following years of idleness and local citizens are also taking the drive with Yadah Connect setting up a marble cutting and polishing factory.

“The new dispensation has ushered in a friendly business environment which is open to both local and foreign investors,” said Vice President Mohadi, who was the guest of honour at the official opening.

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Enterprise Development Dr Mike Bimha challenged companies to invest in value edition so as to export the finished product in order to raise the much needed foreign currency.

Yadah Connect founder Prophet Walter Magaya said they look forward to open up more factories so that Zimbabwe becomes the biggest producer of cut and polished marble.

The factory is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery which has capacity to generate a cumulative US$100 million annually.

At its full capacity the factory will employ 3 000 people.
