The government has set up a $15 million tourism revolving fund aimed at improving hotel infrastructure.

It is now left for hotel operators to approach the government to get loans to refurbish and improve their facilities.

Addressing journalists during a tour of Cresta Oasis Hotel under US$1.5 million refurbishment process in Harare, the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Cde Prisca Mupfumira said hotel operators have the mandate to revamp their properties.

“All the loans under the facility will be availed under a business case basis, to deserving clients who demonstrate ability to repay all loans that will be disbursed,” she said.

Cresta Oasis Zimbabwe Country Director, Ms Chipo Mandela also said refurbishment of their facility is testimony to the mantra that Zimbabwe is open for business.

“This is a significant and exciting development scheduled for completion by end of year,” she said.

Cresta Oasis is one of Southern Africa’s most vibrant hospitality groups.
