tobacco selling 2011.jpgTobacco farmers have delivered more than 14.8 million kilogrammes of the golden leaf valued at $54 million so far.

Statistics released by the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) shows that the amount of tobacco delivered since the beginning of the season has recorded a 20% increase compared to last year’s 12.4 million kilogrammes delivered at the same period.

The average price this year is pegged at US$3.49 which is higher than that of last year at US$3.03.

TIMB expects 150 million kilogrammes of the crop to have been sold by the end of the selling season.
