The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has promised to forge symbiotic bilateral relations with Zimbabwe starting with contributing towards the ongoing relief and rescue operations for Cyclone Idai survivors.
This was said by His Highness, Rashed Al Hemiri from the UAE after paying courtesy call on President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House today (Monday).
Many countries continue to provide financial and material resources towards the rescue and relief operations in the aftermath of the devastating Cyclone Idai which has so far claimed more than 154 lives.
The UAE is the latest country to demonstrate the strong bilateral relationship with Zimbabwe after donating 95 tonnes of humanitarian aid comprising food, tents and medicines towards assisting the Cyclone Idai victims.
After the UAE’s Red Crescent led by Al Hemiri paid a courtesy call on President Mnangagwa at State House in Harare, Al Hamiri said the growing bilateral relations with Zimbabwe culminated into this donation during the country’s time of need.
Health and Child Care Minister Dr Obediah Moyo commended the demonstration of outpouring show of support adding that the UAE has promised long term technical support to capacitate local health institutions.
The UAE aid comes following a successful trip by President Mnangagwa to the Middle East country where he held bilateral talks with crown prince Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, leader of the UAE.
