Matthew Denslow thrilled Zimbabwean fans after powering to gold at the 2019 Bonaqua Triathlon Africa Cup which was dominated by German triathletes in the men and women elite categories.

It was a fine day of triathlon at Troutbeck, Nyanga where athletes from several countries lined up to compete in the Eastern Highlands.

Finishing in pole position was the silver lining for Zimbabwe as Denslow turned on the style in the Junior Africa Cup, shrugging off the challenge of Tunisia’s duo of Sebai Mohamed and Selmi Seifeddine to scoop gold.

In the women’s elite section, Germany’s Nina Eim came out tops with another German Justus Nieschlag ending first in the men’s section.

In the men’s elite section Gideon Bernade finished 18th in a field of 19.
