Chitungwiza Central Hospital is set for a major facelift as government has committed to improve the local health facilities through various means including the enhancement of public private partnerships.
Government is steering up efforts to improve the local health services to provide first class facilities at all hospitals in the country.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Development Professor Mthuli Ncube said apart from the 2 percent tax that will assist the health sector among others, public private partnerships in the sector is the way to go.
Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Obadiah Moyo added that in line with the public private partnerships scheme that has proved to be effective in the sector, his ministry has proposed that cooperates submit their proposals on areas of interest to refurbish and develop hospitals in the country on a win-win situation.
Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube who was touring the hospital with Dr Moyo after a clean-up exercise added the joint venture scheme has worked at Chitungwiza Hospital where the Bains Group partnered with the hospital and refurbished the radiology sector.
This saw the provision of a city scan machine that will help cut the cost to be paid by patients from more than $1 300 to only $200 at the local hospital.
